So the website is progressing day by day. I want to thank Relative Design (http://www.relativedesign.net/), more specifically, Jerret and Beverly for all their hard work. They have put up with my impatience as things rarely move as fast as an entrepreneur wants them to (or maybe that’s just me). Great work guys thanks so much!

Getting back to the MindGlo story… Here I am back in Portland, unemployed, and hungry for a business idea. Then I see this opportunity to bring lifelong learning/self-enrichment classes to Portland. Naturally my next thought was “how would I get started?”. I learned pretty early in life that the best way to learn how to get where you want to go is to go to the person who has been there and done that. As I mentioned in my first blog I was a fan of a Sacramento, CA based company called The Learning Exchange. I thought to myself why not try sending them an email and see if they would be willing to help. That eventually led me to Carol Greenberg to whom I will always be grateful. Carol became my consultant, my mentor, a pain in my neck (love her for this) etc… I realize now that in some ways she was testing me early on. I am sure that I am not the first person that has come to her asking for help. I know that I am one of the only people to actually follow through. Thanks for being there in the early days Carol!

Carol and I started to work together laying the foundation for the company. During that time I came up with the name for MindGlo. Which is a story in itself… It involved a kitchen table, a rejection, lots of notes, some inspiration, coffee and more coffee, oh and GoDaddy. Finally found a name that hadn’t been taken as a url, MindGlo it is! From there it was legal stuff, business cards etc… Then I was ready to go out and start meeting potential instructors. Hmmm where do I look for instructors?

More to come in my next post! In the meantime please RSVP to our Grand Opening event. We are celebrating at BridgePort Brew Pub on Sep14th from 4:30 to 7:00pm.
